The Senators (13-14) host the Richmond Flying Squirrels (8-19) through May 11.
Phillip Glasser collected 14 hits last week as Harrisburg won four of six contests. The second baseman leads the Eastern League (EL) with a.412 batting average. Glasser is second in OPS .981). Nick Schnell added nine hits for the week and is tied for third in the EL with two triples.
The Senators clubbed nine dingers last week, with catcher Maxwell Romero hitting two. Yohandy Morales and Carlos De La Cruz were also in the week’s slam club. They have four, each tying them for fourth in the league. Schnell, Glasser, Viandel Pena, and Cayden Wallace also went deep.
Morales reaches base at a .896 clip, the 10th-best OPS in the EL. Joe Naranjo is tied for fourth in the league in walks, which contributes to his .849 OPS. Apparently, his 51 at-bats do not qualify him for the leadership board.
The good news about being at the bottom is that you can only move up, and that is exactly what Harrisburg hurlers did last week. As a group, they moved to the 11th spot in the league. Michael Cuevas converted all three of his save opportunities. He is tied for second in saves and third with two wins in the IL.
Fellow relievers Junior Santos (1-1) and Holden Powell (1-1) represent the ugly. Santos has given up 15 walks, tied for third in the league, in just 11 innings. Powell has walked 11 in 10 2/3 innings.
Jarlin Susana (0-1) leads the league in both bases on balls (20) and strikeouts (38). Then there is Dustin Saenz (1-3). He is within a month of his 26th birthday, but Saenz is leading the league in three negative categories. Saenz has allowed 19 earned runs – the most in the league. The 28 hits off the southpaw are the third highest. Saenz’s three losses are the second most in the EL. His 7.43 ERA ranks almost a full run below the next lowest competitor.
