WEST PALM BEACH, FL - As spring training winds down, the Washington Nationals are evaluating their roster options, and one name continues to generate buzz: Brad Lord. The 25-year-old right-hander, a 2022 18th-round pick out of South Florida, has turned heads with a strong showing in camp, prompting manager Davey Martinez to experiment with his role. Yesterday, Martinez revealed that he limited Lord to a single inning in his most recent outing to test his ability to pitch on back-to-back days—a clear signal that the Nationals are considering him for a multi-inning relief role in the big-league bullpen.
“It still feels pretty surreal, I guess,” Lord said, reflecting on his journey. “It was like an honor getting invited to big league camp, and I’ve really enjoyed my time. It’s been a lot of fun.”
