LYNCHBURG, VA - The Cardiac FredNats were back at it again on Wednesday night as the Fredericksburg Nationals secured their 11th walk-off win of the season, a 3-2 thriller that went nine innings and capped off a doubleheader split against the Lynchburg Hillcats.
Despite playing in Lynchburg, Fredericksburg (59-59, 29-24) was designated as the home team in the second game of the doubleheader following a rain cancellation in an earlier series in Fredericksburg this season.
The FredNats scored both of their runs in the fifth thanks to an RBI groundout and a wild pitch, allowing them to tie things up against Lynchburg, who scored twice in the fourth.
Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when Nick Peoples singled home Luke Dickerson to secure a much-needed victory and snap a four-game losing streak.
Yes, you CAN walk off a game on the road!

The combination of Ryan Minckler, Angel Roman and Merrick Baldo out of the bullpen held the Hillcats hitless over the final 5.2 innings of play, striking out a combined six batters overall.
Baldo earned the win, improving to 7-2 this season as a reliever as he’s allowed a run in just five of his last 20 appearances overall.
Fredericksburg continues its series in Lynchburg at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
