Game storylines and notes

The Senators play the Richmond Flying Squirrels tonight in game 5 of 6 from CarMax Park. The Sens are losers of 3 straight and will look to win the remaining two games of the series to come home with a series split. Tonight is Clemmey Day in Richmond. The Senators will hand the ball to LHP Alex Clemmey who looks to avenge one of his tougher starts of the season last Sunday. In that start, Clemmey gave up only four hits to a formidable Somerset offense but three long balls ended up being detrimental to the start. Clemmey has been really good at times this season and the Senators are in need of a big game for the 20 year old to stop the three game slide.

With last night’s 3-0 win, Richmond has officially won the Southwest Division First Half title and has thus clinched a spot in the 2026 Eastern League Playoffs. The Flying Squirrels can earn a series win with a victory in tonight’s game. Richmond will send Yunior Marte to the mound for his third start for the Flying Squirrels. Marte was recently promoted to AA from A+ Eugene Emeralds.

Game Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the Harrisburg Senators 3-0 in a rain shortened game that went into a delay in the Bottom of the 5th inning before eventually being ruled an official game. Richmond did all their work in the first inning of the game and it was enough to top the punchless Sens. Issac Lyon had a rough first inning of work being hurt by walks, a hit batsman and inability to find the strike zone early. The big punch came on a Jean Carlos Sio that drove in two to put Richmond up 3-0 and would be more than enough. The Senators offense was seemingly asleep at the wheel again last night only mustering 3 hits in 5 innings of play. Trystan Vrieling earned the win and is now 2-1 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. Trystan’s line on the evening was 5 IP, 0R, 3H, 1BB and 5K. Issac Lyon, who is still searching for rhythm at the AA level, took the loss. He fell to 0-3 on the season and his ERA rose to 8.22. Lyon’s line for the evening was 4 IP, 3R, 2H, 2BB and 3K.
