MLB Trade Deadline Deals & Roster Moves

Over the six days leading up to the 2025 Trade Deadline, the Nationals acquired a total of 10 players through multiple trades. They obtained right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter and outfielder Browm Martinez from the New York Yankees in exchange for Amed Rosario; left-handed pitcher Jake Eder and first baseman Sam Brown from the Los Angeles Angels for Andrew Chafin and Luis Garcia; shortstop Ronny Cruz and outfielder Christian Franklin from the Chicago Cubs for Michael Soroka; right-handed pitchers Josh Randall and R.J. Sales from the Detroit Tigers for Kyle Finnegan; and right-handed pitchers Sean Paul Liñan and Eriq Swan from the Los Angeles Dodgers for Alex Call. Among those newcomers, Sean Paul Liñan (No. 10), Christian Franklin (No. 11), Eriq Swan (No. 12), Ronny Cruz (No. 13), Josh Randall (No. 23), and Clayton Beeter (No. 24) were added to MLBPipeline.com's Top 30 Nationals Prospects list.
ROSTER MOVES:
Washington has recalled outfielder Robert Hassell III, right-handed pitcher Ryan Loutos, left-handed pitcher Shinnosuke Ogasawara, and right-handed pitcher Orlando Ribalta. Hassell III returns to the Nationals for his second Major League stint this season, having hit .336 with a .435 on-base percentage and a .519 slugging percentage in 33 games since rejoining Triple-A Rochester on June 16. Loutos has posted a 2.16 ERA (2 earned runs in 8.1 innings) with a .107 opponents’ batting average (3 for 28), alongside eight strikeouts and three walks in six games since his return to Triple-A Rochester on July 6. Ogasawara comes back after going 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA (2 earned runs in 10 innings) and seven strikeouts across his last two starts for Triple-A Rochester. Ribalta has recorded a 2.57 ERA in seven appearances split between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester.
