Game storylines and notes
The Nationals come to the ballpark on Saturday looking to bounce back from last night’s frustrating performance, knowing that a pitcher’s duel could very well be taking shape this afternoon. Foster Griffin and Kyle Harrison, two of the league’s best lefties to start the 2026 season, will be facing off against each other in D.C. as Washington looks to clinch a season series win.

The Nationals got run off early and never recovered in a 6–1 loss, with Milwaukee taking control behind Jacob Misiorowski’s no-hit start. Washington had no answers through the first six innings, as the second-year righty carried his no-no deep into the game while piling up strikeouts and weak contact before coming out due to injury. By the time the Nationals finally broke through, the Brewers had already built a strong lead, scoring in the first inning on a passed ball before putting together offense in the middle innings to put the game out of reach.
Jake Irvin kept things from completely unraveling but still allowed four runs (three earned) across five innings, and the bullpen didn’t have much to work with. Milwaukee tacked on late insurance while the Nationals’ offense never found a rhythm, finishing with just a couple of hits and a lone run. It wasn’t the kind of game that kills momentum, but it makes for something to watch on Saturday as the team tries to claw its way back.
