Game Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Nationals dug themselves into an early hole Wednesday night, allowing five runs through the first two innings before clawing their way back for a 9-6 comeback win over the Mets. Foster Griffin struggled early, surrendering a pair of home runs and five earned runs over as many innings, but settled in enough to save the bullpen. After Griffin left, Washington’s relief corps took over, combining for four innings while allowing just one run (a solo homer by Juan Soto) to keep the game under control after the Nationals flipped momentum.
Offensively, Washington erased the deficit with nine unanswered runs, led by James Wood’s game-changing inside-the-park grand slam in the second inning that cut a 5-0 deficit to one. José Tena followed with a game-tying solo homer in the third before the Nationals surged ahead thanks to aggressive baserunning and Mets defensive miscues. Jorbit Vivas added a sacrifice fly during the rally, while Washington scored multiple runs off passed balls and errors to complete one of its best comeback wins of the season.
