The Nationals secured a 5–2 win over the Athletics on Sunday afternoon behind a strong all-around performance.

CJ Abrams led the way offensively, launching his 21st home run of the season to set a new career high. Dylan Crews added to the power display with a solo homer in the fifth inning, helping extend Washington’s lead.

On the mound, Foster Griffin delivered another standout outing, earning his 11th win of the year. The left-hander tossed 7.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on minimal traffic while walking one and striking out two.

Tomorrow, the Washington Nationals will play game two of their three game series against the Rockies with the first pitch at 8:40 p.m. EDT. The Nationals are scheduled to send RHP Miles Mikolas to the mound who has a 3-7 record and a 5.53 ERA. The Rockies will be sending RHP Michael Lorenzen to the mound who has a 3-9 record and a 6.22 ERA. Of note, Miles Mikolas has not allowed an earned run in four of his last seven outings and has struck out 14 and issued just four walks in 38.0 innings since June 8.
