Game Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox played a tight, low-scoring game that stayed scoreless into extra innings, something Washington had only seen six times since 2005 prior to Sunday.
Pitching obviously controlled the game early, with Washington’s side getting seven shutout innings from Foster Griffin and Chicago matching with a long outing from Sean Burke after his opener. The White Sox had one of their best chances early after putting traffic on base, but couldn’t cash in, and the Nationals never generated much either as Burke retired a long stretch of hitters in order.
In extras, the game finally flipped. Washington got across a run from their ghost runner to take the lead, then added insurance on a pinch-hit solo homer from José Tena. Chicago answered in the bottom half with an RBI single to cut it to one, but couldn’t find the tying run as the Nationals bullpen closed it out to secure a 2–1 win in 10 innings.

Up Next…

On Deck…
This divisional series will continue on Wednesday night, as Cade Cavalli faces off against the currently struggling Mets lineup. The right-hander performed well in his last outing, something he looks to carry into Queens tomorrow.
In the hole…
Thursday’s matinee will mark the series finale, a game that will likely be started by an opener before Blake Butera hands the ball to Miles Mikolas, who’s last two outings in relief combined for a solid 7.2 innings in which he allowed just two earned runs. Meanwhile, the lineup is slated to face Freddy Peralta in that 1:10 P.M. matchup.
