Player Profile
CREWS’ing down the line

Dylan Crews has gone 13-for-44 (.295 batting average) over his last 13 games, tallying two doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs, three walks, and scoring seven runs. He has managed to hit safely in nine of those contests, including his most recent streak of four consecutive games with at least one hit

Player Profile
Level up LILE

Daylen Lile has put together a strong stretch since July 21, batting .330 with a .378 on-base percentage and a .557 slugging percentage across 48 games. During this period, he has collected eight doubles, ten triples, four home runs, 24 RBIs, 12 walks, five stolen bases, and scored 30 runs.

Within this same span, Lile leads all National League players in triples, ranks second in batting average, and is fifth in slugging percentage. He currently tops all Major League rookies with 11 triples, and among National League rookies, he ranks first in batting average (.286), slugging percentage (.468), and OPS (.804), while placing sixth in on-base percentage (.336)

Player Profile
Random Notes:

  • The Washington Nationals lead Major League Baseball with 80 runs scored and 138 hits in the ninth inning this season. The only Nationals team to surpass this mark was the 2019 squad, which scored 87 runs in the ninth inning during their championship season (since the franchise's inception in 2005)

  • CJ Abrams currently has 18 home runs and 31 stolen bases this season. With just two more home runs, he will become the eighth player in Nationals history (since 2005) to achieve a 20 home run/20 stolen base season. Additionally, Abrams will join Ian Desmond—who accomplished this feat multiple times from 2012 to 2014—as the only player to do it more than once. Meanwhile, James Wood is just five stolen bases shy of joining Abrams in the 20/20 club this year. If both players reach the milestone, it will mark only the sixth time since 1900 that a Major League team has had two players under the age of 25 hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in the same season. The last duo to accomplish this was Cleveland's Francisco Lindor and José Ramírez in 2018.

  • Josh Bell has hit 12-for-37 (.324) with four home runs, 16 RBIs, and seven runs scored in his last 11 games. Over the 34 games since August 8, he is slugging .473 with an OPS of .785, compiling four doubles, seven home runs, 21 RBIs, and 11 walks during that span.

Starting for the Washington Nationals
Cade Cavalli

Cade Cavalli will get the start in game two for the Nationals. Cavalli enters the start with a 4.76 ERA and a 3-1 record coming off his last start five days ago against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Against the Pirates he pitched five innings allowing three earned runs and two strikeouts. Cavalli was coming off Tommy John surgery last season and had some strong outings to go along with some shaky ones.

Cade Cavalli has not made a start against the Mets in his career, his first one however he will have a chance to put a halt on the Mets late season playoff surge. Cavalli will be appearing in his 10th career game after being drafted back in 2020. Injuries have derailed his career so far but he has looked solid for the Nationals in nine starts this season.
