Tonight the Washington Nationals will finish up their four game series against the Philadelphia Phillies and their eight game road trip before heading home to Nationals Park for a six game homestand.
The Nationals are in the midst of a stretch of 17 games in 17 days that began on July 24 until their next day off on Aug. 10. Washington is also on a run of 39 games in 41 days from July 24 through Sept. 2.
The Nationals are scheduled to send RHP Miles Mikolas who has a 3-8 record and an 5.67 ERA to the mound. The Nationals will face left handed pitcher Cristopher Sánchez who has a 14-4 record and an a 2.61 ERA.

LAST GAME RECAP
Last night the Washington Nationals snapped their seven game losing streak by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in extra innings. The Washington Nationals scored six runs in the top of the 11th to propel the team to it’s 56th win of the 2026 season.
Brady House hit his first career pinch-hit home run while CJ Abrams finished 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored Right handed pitcher Miles Mikolas made his third career pinch-hit appearance in the 11th inning.

Washington Nationals Player Spotlight: Dylan Crews
Dylan Crews went 1-for-5 with a walk and a run scored on Aug. 5 at Philadelphia. During the current road trip, he is batting .160 (4-for-25) with a double, an RBI, two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored.
The former No. 1 overall pick finished tied for second among National League rookies with 17 stolen bases and tied for fifth with 10 home runs in 2025, despite appearing in just 85 games. Crews has reached base in 14 of his last 17 games, batting .250 (15-for-60) with four doubles, three home runs, seven RBIs, three hit-by-pitches, 10 walks, two stolen bases and 11 runs scored. He has nine home runs in 261 plate appearances this season after hitting 10 in 322 plate appearances in 2025.
Crews has been particularly effective against left-handed pitching, batting .304 (24-for-79) with five doubles, four home runs, nine RBIs and nine walks. His home runs on June 6 at Arizona (432 feet), June 12 against Seattle (440 feet) and June 20 at Tampa Bay (442 feet) are the three longest of his career. He is batting .241 (14-for-58) with one home run and 16 RBIs with runners in scoring position. His last home run came on July 28 against Toronto, when he took Van Eyk deep, and he has 22 career home runs.
In a League of his Own
After leading the National League in home runs, OPS and slugging percentage during a dominant July, CJ Abrams was named the NL Player of the Month on Monday. It is the first Player of the Month award of Abrams’ career and the first such honor for a National since Daylen Lile won the award in September 2025.
Abrams batted .348 (31-for-89) with five doubles, 10 home runs, 23 RBIs, 11 walks, six stolen bases and 17 runs scored over 23 games. He posted a .742 slugging percentage and a 1.149 OPS, recording at least one hit in 19 games and reaching base safely in 21.
Abrams ranked among the NL’s leaders in extra-base hits—third with 15—RBIs—third with 23—batting average—third at .348—hits—tied for sixth with 31—and on-base percentage—sixth at .408. Bombs Away: Washington leads Major League Baseball with 167 home runs, three more than the New York Yankees’ 164. The Nationals have hit 130 home runs since May 6, the most in the Majors and 19 more than the Houston Astros’ 111; Washington had 41 home runs entering play that day, which ranked 12th in MLB.
The Nationals have homered in 28 of their last 33 games, totaling 58 home runs during that stretch. They have also hit at least one home run in 35 of their last 41 games, with 70 total homers, and in 45 of their last 53 games, with 88 total home runs.
Kings of the Road: The Nationals are 13-4-1 in road series this season and 33-26 (.559) overall on the road. Their .559 road winning percentage ranks sixth in Major League Baseball, while their 32 road victories are tied for fourth. Washington has won four of its last five and nine of its last 11 road series. The Nationals’ current series loss to the Braves marked their first road series defeat since June 21 at Tampa Bay. Their four road series losses have each been separated by more than a month: April 1 at Philadelphia, May 10 at Miami, June 21 at Tampa Bay and July 31 at Atlanta.

Miles Mikolas
Right handed pitcher Miles Mikolas will take the mound for the Washington Nationals this evening. Mikolas enters tonight’s game with a 3-8 record and an ERA of 5.67.
Mikolas tossed 6.0 innings in his most recent start, allowing four earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out three. He took the loss in the Nationals’ 8-3 defeat to the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 1.
Against Philadelphia, Mikolas is set to make his 10th career start and 12th appearance. He has posted a 2-5 record with a 4.14 ERA, allowing 27 earned runs over 58.2 innings while recording 34 strikeouts.
Mikolas has also excelled at limiting walks, leading Major League Baseball with just 1.09 walks per 9.0 innings since May 22. He has issued only eight walks across 66.1 innings during that stretch, while his 3.38 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranks eighth in the National League.
Miles Mikolas is celebrating 10 years of Major League service today. He made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres on May 5, 2012, and has since earned two All-Star selections, in 2018 and 2022. Mikolas finished sixth in National League Cy Young Award voting in 2018 and led MLB with 35 starts in 2023, becoming the first pitcher to make 35 starts in a season since Jhoulys Chacín did so for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018.

At Citizens Bank Field Sánchez has 9 wins and if he reaches 10, he will be the 5th Phillie to earn 10+ wins at CBP in a single season, alongside Zack Wheeler (10 in 2024), Aaron Nola (10 in 2018), Cliff Lee (11 in 2011) and Roy Halladay (12 in 2010) and Sánchez is currently tied with Boston Red Sox’s Sonny Gray for the most wins in the majors.
