Fredericksburg Nationals Story Line

This is Lynchburg’s first trip to Fredericksburg since the Fredericksburg Nationals took two out of three from them on Opening Weekend, and then the teams split a six-game series in Lynchburg in late April. Tonight, RHP Brad Lord starts for Fredericksburg, and the sinker-ball righty is coming off back-to-back quality starts. Out of the 15 outs he got in his last start against Delmarva, 11 of them were ground ball outs.

Things to be on the lookout for

Fredericksburg Nationals utility pitcher Jose Atencio is enjoying one of the best stretches of the season for the Fredericksburg Nationals The 21-year-old from Maracaibo, Venezuela currently has a 13.1-inning scoreless streak going on the mound, which is the longest of the season for any Fredericksburg Nationals pitcher and the second-longest active streak in the Carolina League right now. The streak covers his last two starts and his previous two relief appearances over these past couple of weeks.

2021 second-round draft pick Daylen Lile is enjoying an incredible season at the plate for Fredericksburg. The 20-year-old from Louisville, KY won Carolina League Player of the Week last week, the first Fredericksburg Nationals to do so this season. He went 8-for-17 with a three-run homer, three doubles, a triple, six RBI, and four walks last week.

Jarlin Susana walked the bases loaded in the first inning, and Delmarva’s Noelberth Romero promptly unloaded them with the Shorebirds’ second grand slam of the series to make it 4-0 quickly. That was all the offense Delmarva needed as they cruised to an 8-0 win. The Shorebirds hit three total home runs, with Elio Prado and Samuel Basallo joining in as well. Susana allowed two home runs - the first two of his season - but still pitched into the 5th inning for his second straight start.
