New York, NY - The Washington Nationals look to win two games in a row against the first-place New York Mets. Last night, the Nationals beat the Mets, 7-1.
Today, the Nationals will send RHP Erick Fedde to the mound to face the Mets. While the New York Mets will send RHP Carlos Carrasco to the mound to face the Nationals lineup.
RHP Erick Fedde will be looking for his sixth win of the season. Currently, he is 5-9 with an ERA of 5.29 this season. In his last time out against the Oakland A's, Fedde went 2.2 innings giving up nine hits and six runs. He struck out four and walked one. Over his last seven games, Feede is 0-4 with an ERA of 7.11. He has given up 25 runs on 39 hits and struck out 25.
RHP Carlos Carrasco exited his start on August 15 at Atlanta after 2.0 innings with left-side tightness. He took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits (two home runs) and a walk with one strikeout. He was placed on the 15-day Injured List on August 16 with a low-grade left oblique strain. Prior to his last start, Carrasco had won each of his five previous decisions from July 3-August 9, his second-longest win-streak of the season.
URGH, the Mets Again... The Mets have clinched the season series against the Nationals and have won it in four of the last five years. The Mets have won four of their five games against the Nationals at Citi Field this year. The Mets are 11-3 against Washington at Citi Field since the start of last season. In 2022, the Nationals are 4-11 against the New York Mets, and the Mets are posting a 2.93 ERA and a .292/.370/.461 slashline. Additionally, The Nationals have been outscored by the Mets 83-47 this season, and the Mets have recored 10 or more wins in four of the last five seasons against the Nationals.
On the road again... The Washington Nationals are now on a 10-day, three-city road trip beginning with three games in New York against the Mets. After this weekend, the Nationals will spend four days in St. Louis, followed by a weekend in Philadelphia. Washington is coming off a .500 homestand with Cincinnati (1–2) and Oakland (2–1). This will be the Nationals' second trip to Citi Field this season, they will make one more trip to Flushing to end the 2022 regular season.
