The Rochester Red Wings lost 3-2 to the Syracuse Mets in game one of this series and a two-week homestead for Rochester. Following a two-week road trip, the Wings were unable to capitalize in game one against their thruway rivals.

RHP Logan Verrett saw the mound first, registering six strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits through 5 2/3 innings. Verrett has had his way against the Mets this season, allowing seven runs through 22 innings of work against Syracuse batters.

The Wings struck first, logging a run in the first on a single from 1B Joey Meneses. LF Andrew Stevenson scored on the RBI. Verrett held Syracuse scoreless through six innings until Mark Vientos scored on an RBI with one out. Wings 2B Jake Noll hit a ground-out RBI in the bottom, bringing in CF Cole Freeman to take a 2-1 lead. LHP Sam Clay gave up a two-run homer in the seventh as the Mets went up 3-2 with a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Given the Buffalo Bisons' loss, the Wings will remain -0.5 games back from first place in the International League after Tuesday’s loss.

Rochester will send RHP Joan Adon to the mound at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday with a chance to bounce back against the Mets.
