After enduring a losing streak, it was nice to see the Nationals on the winning side of the scoreboard on Sunday afternoon, as the Washington Nationals took two of three games against the San Francisco Giants who were recently in Washington D.C.

The Nationals were led by Yadiel Hernandez who drove in a career-high five runs with three hits as the Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 11-5 on Sunday.

Juan Soto also had three hits and scored three times for the Nationals. Washington’s Lucius Fox got his first two hits in the majors after beginning his career 0 for 20. In his post-game comments with MLB, Fox said: "I got two infield hits, I stole a base, went first to third, scored from third on a dirtball -- and it was all with the legs...That’s special." Fox, who made his Major League debut with the Nationals on April 10 at age 24, entered the series finale 0-for-20 at the plate. Fox was actually signed back in 2015 by the San Francisco Giants where he inked a contract with the Giants that included a $6 million signing bonus however, his time with the Giants was really quick as the following summer, Fox was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays as part of the Matt Duffy-Matt Moore deal.

Fox shared with MLB.com, what it was like getting his major league first hit in San Fransico after being traded to Tampa: “Signing day, I came to [Oracle Park to] watch the Giants play...To actually get that first hit in the Giants’ stadium, it’s special. But I kind of had that feeling in my mind that I was going to do something special today.”

The Nationals kick off the top of the first inning with a five-run inning which included a balk by San Fransico starter  Alex Cobb, a two-run line drive to center by Yadiel Hernández drove in Soto and Franco to make it 3-0 and the Nationals didn't look back from that point. The Giants did threaten late in the game with their own 5-run inning in the bottom of the seventh, however, the Nationals game right back in the top of the eight to get three additional runs which sealed the series win for the Nationals.

Robles continues his hot streak heading to Colorado

Victor Robles continues to heat up for the Nationals. On Sunday afternoon, Robles went 1 for 1 with a walk after bunting his way on in the third, and 7 for 9 with a double and two walks in the three-game series in Oracle Park to that point, after going 7 for 46 in his first 18 games this season. According to the Nationals in their pregame notes, "Across his last 13 games [before Sunday's game], Victor Robles has recorded a .342/.390/.474 slash line. Robles is 13-for-38 with five doubles, seven RBI, three walks and eight runs scored across the 13 games and has hit safely in eight of the 13 and reached base safely in nine of them."

It's a Gray Day for Josiah Gray...

On the other side of the ball, RHP Josiah Gray (3-2) only allowed one hit in six innings, working around four walks while striking out three. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit until Jason Krizan’s two-out single in the fifth. Nationals manager Dave Martinez shared his optimism about what can be considered a great outing by the right-hander. "Every time he’s out there he’s getting better, he’s getting a little bit more confidence... You’re only seeing the beginning of what he really can do.”

The Nationals now head to Colorado to face the Rockies with Monday as a day off. The Nationals will finish the week when they face the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game weekend series starting on Friday night before heading home to face the New York Mets.
