Richmond, Va — June 11, 2026 — The Sens appeared to be sleep walking through another defeat at the hands of the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Thursday night. They had 5 base hits through seven innings and faced an uphill battle of an 11-2 deficit with only two at bats left on the evening. The game would take an unforeseen turn.
The Senators dialed up their inner offense from last Friday night’s game against the Somerset Patriots in the 8th inning. The Senators brought 12 batters to the plate and threw every bit of built up frustration at Richmond from the previous 20+ innings of lackluster offense. A Cortland Lawson double got the scoring started in the inning. Devin Fitz-Gerald followed with his first AA hit, a opposite field shot that just cleared the fence at the 325 sign. Sam Petersen, Ethan Petry and Max Romero Jr would all get on base for the Caleb Lomavita show. Caleb crushed a 1-2 pitch to left for his 8th home run of the season and his first grand slam to pull the Sens within one. Ultimately, the lead would be insurmountable as the Sens left the tying run on third base to end the visitor’s half of the frame. The Sens would go 1-2-3 in the ninth and fall to Richmond 11-10 in a game that almost mirrored an earlier season comeback vs. Akron at the beginning of May.

Charlie McDaniel earned the win for the Flying Squirrels. He kept Senators hitters at bay all evening. Charlie ran his record to 1-0 and left the game after the 6th inning with a line of 4H, 2R, 0BB and 5K. His ERA dropped from 18.00 to 8.00 in the outing.
Losing Pitcher
Josh Randall faced a bit of adversity after smooth sailing through his first two AA games. Randall took the loss last night. He left the game after the 4th inning and finished with a line of 4IP, 8R, 7H, 2BB and 6K. Three of the seven hits he gave up were home runs. His ERA is now 4.50.
