Richmond, Va- The Harrisburg Senators will take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Wednesday, June 10th at Richmond’s new CarMax Park. The Sens enter tonight’s game winners of 6 of their last 10 games and look to make things more interesting in the first half playoff race in the Southwest Division. The Senators enter play this evening with a record of 31-27 and currently sit in second place 6.5 games back of Richmond with 11 games to play.

Meanwhile, the division leading Richmond Flying Squirrels enter tonight with a record of 37-20. The Flying Squirrels have cooled off of late and are winners of only 4 of their last 10 games and 10 of their last 20. Probable Pitchers

Harrisburg Senators– Connor Van Scoyoc, (5-1, 3.16 ERA)

  • Season Stats: 3.16 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 45K, 42 2/3 IP

  • vs. Opponent: The Nationals signed Van Scoyoc in January of this year. It will be his first appearance against the Flying Squirrels in a Senators uniform. He has faced Richmond two years ago when he pitched for AA Hartford. Only one Richmond player, Diego Velasquez, has faced Van Scoyoc. They faced each other in one at bat.

Key Storylines/what to watch

Keep an eye on the Sens offense as they look to establish consistency going into the 2nd half. Their offense was given a big boost earlier this weekend with the promotion of two top 15 prospects in Fitz-Gerald and Petry. It will continue to be interesting to watch the two, along with TJ White, settle in to AA.

With 11 games left in the first half and 5 more to play against Richmond, can the Sens make things interesting down the home stretch.

Washington Nationals Prospects to watch

Senators Devin Fitz-Gerald and Ethan Petry remain the names to watch in this lineup. The prospects had a rude welcoming to AA last evening with the two going a combined 0-7 with 5Ks. You have to assume that those numbers will turn around before too long.

TJ White was the third call up this last weekend and featured one of only two hits for the Sens last evening, in his first AA at bat.

Continue to keep an eye on Max Romero Jr. and Caleb Lomavita, who despite taking 0fers last night, have been seeing the ball extremely well.
