HARRISBURG, PA - The Harrisburg Senators wasted no time seizing control Friday night, erupting for six runs in the opening inning and cruising to a 9–3 victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at FNB Field.
On a rehab assignment from the Washington Nationals, Paul DeJong set the tone by ripping an RBI double to open the scoring. DeJong was unstoppable at the plate all night, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored. He’s now batting a blistering .583 during his rehab stint.
After DeJong’s big hit, the Senators loaded the bases, and Kevin Made delivered the game’s biggest blow—a two-out grand slam to left, his first home run of the season. Made’s clutch swing put Harrisburg up 5–0 and energized the home crowd. Maxwell Romero Jr. immediately followed with a solo shot to right, marking his fifth homer of the year and capping a six-run first inning outburst.
Seaver King also played a key role at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored, consistently setting the table for the Senators’ offense.
On the mound, Hyun-il Choi (now 3–1) was in command from the start, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just four hits, striking out five, and issuing no walks. Choi’s efficiency was evident as he threw 72 pitches, 48 for strikes, and handed a comfortable lead to the bullpen.
Binghamton threatened with a brief rally in the middle innings, trimming the Senators’ lead to four, but Harrisburg responded in the eighth. Phillip Glasser, continuing his hot stretch, blasted a two-run homer—his second hit of the night—to give the Senators some breathing room and put the game out of reach. Glasser finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
The bullpen held strong despite some mid-game pressure, allowing just two earned runs over four innings. Junior Santos came on to record the final four outs, stranding the bases loaded in the eighth and retiring the side in order in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.
