Game 3 Storylines and Notes

The Sens and Baysox meet again for Game 3 with the series dead locked at 1 game a piece. The Sens hand the ball to Alex Clemmey looking to get back on track after a few lackluster starts. The Senators are going need Clemmey to be every bit of what he’s capable of being to have a successful run in the second half. Clemmey has struggled in recent starts with walks putting himself in bad situations and having to work from behind. He has also had a knack for giving up the long ball of late. Clemmey had all the tools to turn this around and the Sens are hopeful the second half provides a fresh start for the lefty.

The Baysox hand the ball to arguably their best starter in Evan Yates. He will be making his 14th start of the season for the Baysox. He’s 2-1 with a 6.53 ERA in the month of June. His season high for innings pitched and one of his better games of the season came in his last start against Richmond. Yates went 6IP, allowing 1R, 3H, 2BB and 5Ks.

Were all set for Thursday night baseball from Bowie, Maryland. Senators and the Baysox. First pitch coming right up.

Senators - Baysox Game 2 Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The bullpen was the star of the game last evening for the visiting Senators. Harrisburg gave the ball to recent AA call up Alex Young to be their opener of a designed bullpen game in Game 2. Young mowed right through the first two Chesapeake hitters with back to back strikeouts before allowing a single. He would get Aron Estrada to ground out the very next at bat and complete his one inning of work allowing 1H and striking out 2 on 18 pitches. Jared Simpson would come on in the 2nd inning and shut the Baysox down 1-2-3 in the 2nd. Connor Van Scoyoc, in his normal starting spot, would go onto throw the next 4 innings and pick up right where his teammates left off. Van Scoyoc would throw 4IP, 0R, 3H, 0BB, 2K on 48 pitches. Thomas Schultz, who has been spectacular this season in a large pitcher, would pitch two scoreless innings striking out one and preserving the lead that Van Scoyoc left with. Holden Powell came on in the ninth inning for the save and Chesapeake made things a little interesting. Ethan Anderson (14) and Aron Estrada (12) got the better of Powell and got the Baysox on the board with one out in the 9th with separate solo shots. Powell was able to shut door on Chesapeake’s rally and save a much needed win for the Sens.

The offense did just enough in the late innings playing 3 runs on 8 hits. Ethan Petry got the Sens rolling with a solo shot to left field for his 4th AS home run. Sens would add to the lead on a Chesapeake error in the 7th to take a 2-0 lead. TJ White would add an insurance run that little did the Sens know at the time would be a huge run! Sam Brown (3) and TJ White (2) paced the offense with 5 hits between the two.
