The Sens are coming off one of the bigger wins of the season last night. The Sens picked up a game on both Chesapeake and Erie and now sit only a ½ game out of 2nd place, 4.5 back of Erie. The series is tied a 2 games a piece and the Sens lead the season series 5 games to 4.

The Sens will hand the ball to recently acquired Yoel Tejeda Jr. Tejeda will be making his 3rd start for the Sens and looks to further adapt himself to the AA level. In 2 starts with the Sens Tejeda is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. In his first outing he was mostly hurt by one home run. He has pitched well in his outings, it will take time for him to adjust to the better AA hitters.

The Baysox will counter with RHP Patrick Reilly. Reilly is making only his 3rd start for the Baysox as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery last season. His outings have yet to provide an easy road for Reilly with last two outings being particularly rough. On the way back from Tommy John you’re looking at other factors than big picture results like wins, losses and runs allowed. Reilly is the # 29 overall prospect in the Orioles system and will continue working back to form for the remainder of the season, which hopefully provides no set backs for him.

The Sens have had a lot of trouble getting anything going offensively for the last 5 games. Last night was nothing different. The Sens started off the 2nd inning last nights with a single and a double. Second and third, nobody out. A ground out and a line out double play to end the threat. Nothing doing, as has been the case of late. The Sens would proceed to get retired in order in 3 of the remaining innings and only brought 4 batters to the plate in the remaining innings. It seemed like they were in a funk that they couldn’t break themselves out of. The Sens were down to their last chance down 2-0 looking lifeless. Branden Boissiere, the Sens best hitter of late, strikes out to open the 9th. Sometimes you just get the sense a team becomes what’s happening to them. A team looking for a spark couldn’t find one. Insert Elijah Green, who couldn’t have picked a better time to get his first AA hit, which was a double. Kervin Pichardo, also hot of late, walks. One out 1st runners on first and second and you think okay we’ve got something going here. Sam Brown, down to his last strike, made sure they did. Sam Brown caught up to a 1-2 pitch and just cleared the right field wall! Sens lead! Where did this come from? Baseball is a funny game! Luke Young wasted no time retiring the Baysox in order in the 9th to secure the much needed win for the visitors.

When a team needed something improbable to happen, the improbable finally showed up. The kind of win that can put you on a streak. Let’s see how the boys run with it.

The Sens and Baysox get right back to the series tomorrow night. The Sens have not yet named a starter for tomorrow night’s game 6. The Baysox will send recently acquired Anthony Eyanson to the mound. Eyanson was acquired from the Red Sox in the deal that sent Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman to the Red Sox. Saturday night will be the 2nd time in 8 days that Eyanson has faced the Sens, for two different organizations.
