Game 7 Storylines and Notes
The Sens have lost 2 in a row, 5 of 7 and 7 of their last 10. The Sens fell to 6.5 games behind Erie for the division lead and now trail Chesapeake by 2.5 games for 2nd place. The Baysox now lead the series 4 games to 2. With the recent slide the Sens suddenly are staring a tall task right in the face to get back in contention. With only 31 games left in the second half included today’s finale, the Sens have to get to work in a hurry!
The Sens hand the ball to RHP Jack Cebert. Cebert was acquired in the trade that sent 1B Luis Garcia to the New York Yankees. Cebert is the Nationals #13 overall prospect and will be making his first start for the Sens. He has pitched very well of late and has lowered his ERA over 3 points in the last few months. Cebert will be the 7th Senator to make their debut in just this series against the Baysox.
The Baysox will counter with RHP Trace Bright. Bright has had a tough go of things this season. Bright will be making his first start for Chesapeake since being sent back from AAA Norfolk earlier this week. He made his most recent start for Norfolk on the 4th after spending a little over a week on the Development List.
The Sens need to correct timely hitting in a hurry. The Sens are 4 for 50 with runners in scoring position this series. Just simply not going to get the job done, or win a lot of baseball games with those numbers. Sens are looking to end a long road trip with a win for the road. LAST GAME RECAP
The Sens continued a string of frustrating games. Kervin Pichardo would provide the offense with his first inning home run. Chesapeake would score 2 in the 4th and the 6th. The Sens would ultimately score another run and drop Game 6, 5-2. Chesapeake took a 4 games to 2 lead and have won the series.

The Senators travel back to Harrisburg after today’s game after a 2 week road trip that saw the Senators hit most of the Northeast area from Portland to Bowie. After the off day, the Senators will welcome the Richmond Flying Squirrels to City Island for another 7 game set. Game 1 Tuesday night is at 6:30. Games 2 and 3 are Wednesday with Game 2 starting at 5 and Game 3 starting 30-45 minutes after Game 2 completion.Game 4 is Thursday night at 6:30. The weekend games are Friday night at 7, Saturday night at 6 and Sunday afternoon at 1pm. The Sens and Flying Squirrels will play a double header due to the July 4th rainout a month ago. The pitching match ups for the week have yet to be announced.
