The Senators were in action this past week for their final home series of the year against Altoona! With the regular season coming to a close, let’s recap the home finale at FNB field.

The Senators story of the season has been riding the middle of the road, not a phenomenal record or series history but nothing to be upset about either. Middle of the division all year and hovering around .500, it is certainly fitting that their final home series of the year was a tie, 3 games to 3.

Game 1 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 1) — Senators 4-3

Harrisburg rallied from an early deficit to beat Altoona 4-3 in the series opener. The Curve took a 2-1 lead after scoring twice in the first and once in the third, but the Senators tied the game in the seventh with two sacrifice flies, then took the lead on Fitz-Gerald’s sac fly and a sac fly from Wood. The bullpen was excellent, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings to secure the win, with Cranz earning the save. Harrisburg’s timely hitting and strong relief pitching helped them take the first game of the series.

Game 2 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 2) — Senators 3-7

Harrisburg started strong but couldn’t hold off Altoona, falling 7-3 to even the series at one game each. The Senators took an early lead in the first, but the Curve responded with a big fourth inning, scoring five runs to take control. Harrisburg’s bullpen kept the game close, with Gray, Swan, Virguez, and Schultz pitching shutout innings. Mitchell led the offense with three hits, including a key RBI single in the seventh. Despite battling back, the Senators couldn’t overcome the early deficit and will look to even the series in the next game.

Game 3 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 3) — Senators 7-12

The game was a wild, high-scoring affair that went into extra innings tied at 7-7, but Altoona pulled away in the 10th with five runs on just one hit, aided by three errors. Harrisburg battled back from a 5-2 deficit with a big five-run fifth inning, highlighted by Lomavita’s tying single and White’s go-ahead double. Despite their resilient effort and scoring seven runs, the Senators couldn't hold off the Curve in the final frame, which featured costly errors that opened the door for Altoona’s rally. The game ended with Harrisburg stranding runners in the bottom of the 10th, and the series remains tied.

Game 4 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 4) — Senators 2-0

Harrisburg's pitchers shined in a 2-0 victory over Altoona, securing the series even at two games each. Tejeda delivered his best Double-A start, striking out eight over five scoreless innings, while Stumbo matched him with five innings of scoreless ball for Altoona. The decisive moment came in the sixth when Sam Brown homered into the bullpen to give Harrisburg a 2-0 lead. The bullpen held firm, combining for eight scoreless innings and 13 strikeouts, sealing the win.

Game 5 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 5) — Senators 8-5

Harrisburg overcame an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Altoona 8-5 and clinch the season series. The Senators responded quickly in the first inning, tying the game with timely hitting and homers from Brown and White. The offense added two more runs in the sixth on back-to-back solo shots from Brown and White, with Brown extending his hitting streak. Harrisburg’s bullpen held the lead, with Gaston earning the save.

Game 6 — vs. Altoona Curve — Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate (September 5) — Senators 4-8

Harrisburg's season-ending home series concluded with an 8-4 loss to Altoona, resulting in a split series. The Curve took an early lead with a solo homer and added runs in multiple innings to extend their advantage to 8-2. The Senators fought back in the ninth, with Figueroa making his Double-A debut and tripling to score Pichardo, then Mitchell driving in a run with a groundout. Despite the late rally, the team fell short. The series finished evenly at three games apiece, closing out the home schedule for 2026.

Caleb Lomavita had this to say when asked about his longterm goal of playing in the MLB for years.

“I mean, when somebody told me that I have a shot to make money while I'm doing something I love, it's like a dream come true. It's like Disneyland."“

The Senators now look ahead to their series of 2026 against New Hampshire starting Tuesday. The series will run from September 8th through September 13th.
