From the Beat...

Hope you’re having a great start to the week, Senators fans! Welcome to From the Beat, your inside look at the latest headlines, analysis, and storylines from around the Harrisburg Senators organization as the 2026 season rolls on. Let’s dive in.

The Senators were back in action this week against Erie yet again on home territory. Despite finishing the series poorly, there were many positive takeaways from the week that should be discussed as the summer stretch gets in full swing. As this series was sandwiched between two road series, all games were in front of majority Senators fans of course with crowds in great numbers.

📰 THE BIG PICTURE

The Harrisburg Senators unfortunately remain winless in the series-category for the month of June following the Erie series. Although Harrisburg has won at least 2 games in each of the series they have lost the last 3 finale games on Sundays. Despite this, there were still spurts of a high-octane offense with an 11 run game.

The Senators are officially halfway through their home schedule and that year at that, wrapping up the first half of games. They now sit 4th in their division and 1 game behind the .500 mark.

⚔️ GAME RECAPS

Game 1 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 16) — Senators 1-3

The Senators and SeaWolves battled to a 1-1 tie through nine innings, but Erie scored two runs in the 10th on two hits, including a double by Peyton Graham, to take a 3-1 lead. Harrisburg went down in order in the bottom of the 10th, dropping their second straight 10-inning game after losing to Richmond on Sunday. The team struggled with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-10, and tied a season-high with 11 walks. Despite strong pitching from Van Scoyoc, Schultz, Dean, and Simpson, the late inning cost them, and they fell back to a .500 record for the first time this season.

Game 2 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 17) — Senators 11-6

On his 22nd birthday, Ethan Petry hit two home runs to power the Senators to an 11-6 win, evening the series. Harrisburg’s offense exploded after Erie retired the first 10 hitters, with each Wallace and Petry hitting two long balls. Wallace’s second homer of the game and 16th of the season pushed the lead to 7-4, and Petry's first homer sparked a big eighth-inning rally that included a double from Thomas and Wallace, capping the scoring. Randall pitched six solid innings, and Grissom Jr. finished with a scoreless ninth to secure the victory. The Senators scored in every inning from the fourth through eighth, hitting four homers along the way, and improved their record with a dominant offensive showing on Petry’s special day.

Game 3 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 18) — Senators 3-1

Isaac Lyon pitched a career-high 6.2 innings, allowing just one run and retiring 18 Erie hitters in a row at one point, earning his first Double-A win as the Senators defeated the SeaWolves 3-1. Lyon’s dominant performance included no walks and five strikeouts, with only a two-out single and homer allowed. Harrisburg jumped ahead with Wallace’s fifth homer in four games, and the offense added runs on singles from Lomavita and Lawson. Jared Simpson and Holden Powell finished strong, with Powell securing his fourth save, as the Senators improved their record behind Lyon’s impressive outing.

Game 4 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 19) — Senators 3-7

The SeaWolves built an early 5-0 lead and cruised to a 7-3 victory, evening the series at two games each. Erie jumped on starter Clemmey right away, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second, with Liranzo’s homer in the third extending the lead. Harrisburg’s offense fought back in the fourth, scoring three runs on Petry’s double, Pineda’s triple, and Pichardo’s sac fly, but the SeaWolves held the Senators hitless afterward.

Game 5 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 20) — Senators 0-8

The SeaWolves extended their lead with an 8-0 shutout victory over the Senators, marking their second straight win in the series. Harrisburg managed just three hits and struggled offensively, while Erie’s pitching staff kept the Senators off balance all night. Harrisburg’s pitchers surrendered 10 walks and hit a batter, which contributed to Erie’s dominant performance. Kenny Serwa’s four scoreless innings with four strikeouts was a bright spot, but the Senators couldn’t generate enough offense, leaving only five at-bats with runners in scoring position. The series is now tied at two games each.

Game 6 — vs. Erie SeaWolves — Detroit Tigers affiliate (June 21) — Senators 0-5

Harrisburg was shut out for the second straight game and sixth time this season, finishing the series with a scoreless streak of 23.1 innings. The Senators struggled offensively, managing only four hits in the game and just seven across the two shutouts. Despite a solid start from Jared Simpson and some effective relief pitching, Harrisburg's offense couldn’t get anything going, leaving runners stranded and falling below .500 for the first time in 2026.

💬 QUOTE OR INSIGHT

Caleb Lomavita, catcher for the Senators, said this when talking about his new hitting philosophy earlier this year. He is a native of Hawaii and continues to split time with Max Romero.

“It’s hit it when it’s in a good spot. Your not gonna hit everything. Guys throw 99 mph, guys have sweepers that move 40 feet it feels like sometimes. Having a good selection and being ready to hit is what I’ve grown at the most.”
