ROCHESTER, NY - Choi was selected in the Rule 5 Triple-A Phase Draft. This Rule 5 draft is different from the Major League Rule 5 Draft. In the Triple-A version, teams can select players not on the AAA 38-man roster in the offseason. Instead of paying $100,000, a team pays $24,000 to select an unprotected player. Unlike the Major League phase, there are no roster restrictions on players selected in the Triple-A phase, meaning they can be assigned to any level in their system. Choi was selected and assigned to Rochester on December 24th.
