Last week, Jackson Cluff was named Player of the Week by the Rochester Red Wings, highlighting a stretch of performance that showcased his consistency, versatility, and baseball IQ. Over four games, Cluff hit an impressive .346, belted two home runs, drove in five RBIs, stole two bases, and posted a stellar 1.062 OPS.
Cluff has always had a knack for finding his way on base. Although he entered the 2025 season with a career minor league batting average of just .220, his .326 on-base percentage revealed a player with patience and plate discipline. This year, he’s taken it to another level, hitting .272 with a .387 OBP—a 115-point difference, continuing a trend he's shown every year in the Nationals' system.
Matt LeCroy always says to be the best version of you…I’m not Travis Blakenhorn or Brady House. I’m not going to hit 25 or 30 home runs, so I have to get on base any way I can.”
“When you’re hitting, sometimes you’re hot and sometimes you’re not,” Cluff explained, reflecting on his approach at the plate. “I feel like I am swinging at good pitches. I feel confident about getting on base. When I’m not making the contact I like, I’m still able to maintain my walks.”
