For the first time since January 24-25, Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association met for the second straight day in a row in Jupiter Florida. While there was no agreement between the two sides there seems to be some sort of urgency in the meeting frequency has picked up. Here are the three biggest headlines coming out of today's meeting:

  • According to Hannah Keyser of Yahoo Sports, [tweet link], the MLBPA's proposal today included: a lowerd arbitration eligibility from 80% to 75% of players with 2+ years of service; went from 8 teams to 7 teams in a draft lottery; increased min salary raises, still starts at $775k in 1st yr, but goes up by $30k in subsequent yrs (was $25k increases). Hannah also reported that the today's meeting included a full group meeting, caucuses and then smaller chat between Dan Halem/Dick Monfort and Bruce Meyer/Max Scherzer.
  • Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the two sides aree scheduled to meet again Wednesday, and that the first two days of negotiations in Florida, has produced "little movement." Nightengale also reporteed that there has been no exchange of proposals on the luxury tax during the first two days, with MLB sitting at $214 million with "stiffer penalties" than with the previous CBA and the players union sitting at $245 milion.
  • Evan Drellich of tthe Athletic [tweeet link] reported that the MLPA proposed a scaled mininum salary with the first year of the new CBA at $775,00 and each subsequent year it goes up byy $30,000 insteead of previously $25,000.00 .
