The Washington Nationals acquired two right-handed pitchers, Eriq Swan and Sean Paul Liñan, from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for outfielder Alex Call, sources tell The Nats Report.
Swan, 23, Los Angeles, No.16 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has a 4.43 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 69 innings with High-A Great Lakes. Los Angeles selected Swan in the fourth round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of Middle Tennessee State. The Nationals have not announced what level he will be sent to at the time of publication.
Liñan, 20, Los Angeles, No.20 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has a 2.78 ERA and 101 strikeouts across 74 1/3 innings between Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, High-A Great Lakes, and Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He was signed out of Columbia for $17,500 in 2022. MLB Pipeline praised his development this year: "… Liñan has developed into the best pitching prospect from the Dodgers’ 2022 international class.” The Nationals have not announced what level he will start at yet.
The Nationals have not announced any other corresponding roster moves as of publication.
