Right-handed pitcher Tyler Stuart’s 2025 season came to an early end when he was placed on the 60-day injured list on July 14. Subsequent tests revealed damage to his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), leading to Tommy John surgery during the week of August 2, 2025.

The procedure sidelined Stuart for the remainder of the year, and given the standard recovery window for Tommy John surgery, he’s likely to miss most—if not all—of the 2026 season.

Before his injury, Stuart had been putting together a solid campaign. He made 10 appearances, including 9 starts, and posted a 2–2 record. Over just more than 36 innings, he struck out 36 batters while holding opponents to a .265 batting average. He carried a 4.29 ERA and allowed only three home runs.

Stuart’s professional journey began in 2022 when he debuted in the minors, appearing in just three games that season. Over the following two years, he became a steady contributor, pitching in 46 games and going 11–10 with an average ERA of 3.16 and nearly 250 strikeouts. Across his entire Minor League career, Stuart has made 57 starts in 59 games, going 13–12 with a 3.44 ERA, 290 strikeouts, and a .242 opponent batting average.

In an exclusive update to the Nats Report, a source tells us that Stuart is “doing really well mentally and physically getting stronger every week.” The source added that he plans to begin throwing again this spring and might be spending much of the 2026 Minor League season rehabbing on the back fields.

While there’s no fixed timeline for Stuart’s return to game action, the organization remains optimistic about his steady progress and determination to return stronger than ever.
