Game 2 Storylines and Notes

The Sens had won four straight and were feeling extremely good about themselves heading into last weekends final three games with the Erie SeaWolves. Since then the Sens have lost 4 straight games heading into this evening. They have also fallen to five games back in the Southwest Division standings. The Sens need to get rolling and in pretty quick order.

The Sens turn the page from last night and give the ball to Alex Clemmey looking for a big performance from the lefty who's provided a few on the year. Clemmey has pitched well of late. His last four starts he pitched very well. In July he’s pitched 16 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, walking 9 and striking out 13. If Clemmey can continue to cut down on his walks he can be extremely effective.

The Fisher Cats give the ball to RHP Austin Cates. Cates is making his 12th appearance for the Fisher Cats since his promotion from A+ Vancouver. Cates’s only win came in late May. He’s only gone more than 5 innings in a start twice this season. He has struggled thus far in July allowing 8 runs and 14 hits in 8 2/3 innings over 2 starts

There will likely be some weather in the nearby area at some point on Saturday evening. There looks like there will be a window to fit the ball game in but we’ll definitely have another Saturday to be weather aware on City Island. Senators and Fisher Cats for some Saturday night baseball at FNB Field. Line ups are out and first pitch is coming up at 6 o’clock. He’s walked 6 and struck out 8 in those starts.

LAST GAME RECAP

Baseball can be a very tough sport sometimes. It’s not always cut and dry and a lot can happen in 9 innings of a game. Last night for the home team was a pretty easy one to figure out. 1-12 with runners in scoring position tells a story as old as time in a baseball game. You need to come up with timely hitting to win baseball games. They didnt. Isaac Lyon did everything he could to keep his team in the game in his 4 1/3 innings. Jared Simpson came in and also did a job over his 1 2/3 innings of work to keep the Sens in it going into the home half of the 6th. The offense never answered the bell. New Hampshire took full advantage of it scoring 1 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th to put the game out of reach. The Sens would score one in the 8th and once again leave the bases loaded like they did several times on the evening. Issac Lyon took the loss but this one, on this night, fell squarely on the offense. The Sens bats need to turn things around and quickly to stay in the thick of things in the 2nd half.
