Current Washington Nationals' shortstop Alcides Escobar (35) went 0-for-11 in this weekend's series, a sweep at the hands of the Giants, and is hitting .132 with an OPS of .348. With 53 at-bats, this season so far the numbers don't look pretty. However, just in case you need a reminder here are the numbers: seven hits, zero home runs, and only two RBIs. Yeah, that's really bad. One bright spot is that Escobar's defense has been impressive.

So the question that needs to be asked: is it time to promote Washington Nationals shortstop prospect, Luis García, to the majors? If this season is all about knowing what the Nationals' have in talent, so why are the Nationals waiting to promote García?

Last season García spent most of the 2021 campaign at second base, moving up and down between Triple-A and the majors before the trade deadline, then played second, for the most part, after the July 30th sell-off kicked off the organizational reboot in D.C.

Currently, Luis García has been really impressive so far this season in Rochester. In his 71 at-bats, Garica is hitting an impressive .324 with 23 hits, two home runs, eight RBIs, and an OPS of .875.

Again, if this season is about re-tooling and developing players for the long term, moving Garica up to the Majors should be a no-brainer. Let's hope that we get to see Garica soon with the team.
