Philadelphia - Today the Washington Nationals will wrap up a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, before heading to Atlanta to face the Braves for a weekend series.

The Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 3–2, on Wednesday night. RHP Josiah Gray struck out a career-high 11 batters in 6.0 innings of work to earn his seventh win of the season. It was his third career 10+ strikeout game and the second of the season. Luis García’s (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) two-run double in the seventh inning plated Yadiel Hernandez (3-for-4, 2 2B, RBI, R) and Keibert Ruiz (1-for-4, R) to give the Nationals the lead.

Since June 18, Nationals starters have pitched to a 3.26 ERA in 16 games, the second-best ERA in the National League over this stretch…Only the Los Angeles Dodgers (2.69) have a better rotation ERA since that date.

  • C Keibert Ruiz ranks second in Major League Baseball with 13 players caught stealing, behind only Philadelphia catcher J.T. Realmuto (15). With the help of first baseman Josh Bell, Ruiz has picked off four runners at first base, the most in Majo League Baseball, and the four pickoffs are tied for the most in a single season in Nationals history (2005- pres.) with Brian Schneider

  • RHP Joan Adon began his professional career as a reliever but converted to the starting rotation in 2019 and faces the Phillies for the second time in as many starts. Today's game marks his first career start at Citizens Bank Park. In his last game, he pitched 5.0 innings and gave up four runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts against the Philadelphia Phillies. Adon suffered the loss in Washington’s 5-3 defeat on June 17.
