After winning their 6th extra inning game last night in seven tries, the Fredericksburg Nationals will go for their 5th overall win in a row tonight with RHP Bryan Caceres on the mound against the Down East Wood Ducks. Despite the significant roster turnover, the Fredericksburg Nationals have kept in a groove, winning eight out of their last ten games.

Caceres has been significantly better at home versus on the road this year, holding an ERA of about 1.5 runs lower at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. With last night’s win, the team also won just its second series opener on the road all year long, with the first coming at Salem back in June.

Heading into the game today, the Fredericksburg Nationals are 8.0 games ahead of Down East and Salem in the Carolina League North Divison. Fredericksburg is 22-8 in the 2nd half, tied for the most wins in Minor League Baseball since June 23.

Geraldi Diaz and Yoander Rivero had RBIs in the 10th inning, and Riggs Threadgill started a key double play in the 9th to send the game to extras. Andry Lara also had one of his best season starts, pitching six innings and allowing just one run. The Fredericksburg Nationals improved to 14-10 in one-run games on the year.
