The Harrisburg Senators tallied three runs in the second inning then withstood a Reading rally for a 5-3 win Sunday afternoon in Reading. Justin Connell hit a three-run home run in the second to give the Sens a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Five Sens pitchers combined to strike out eleven Fightin Phils. The Senators took five of six from Reading and improved to 10-5 with the win.
Washington Nationals left-handed pitching prospect Evan Lee started and went 3.2 innings allowing just two hits while striking out five. Lee faced 16 batters. Andrew Lee followed and allowed three runs on three hits in one inning of work. Matt Cronin earned the win tossing 1.1 scoreless innings. Brian Gonzalez pitched two scoreless frames, striking out three and facing just seven batters. Matt Brill worked around a two-out walk in the ninth inning to record his sixth save of the season.
Outfielder Justin Connell hit a three-run home run, his third home run during the series. KJ Harrison went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Wilson Garcia had two hits, a double, and scored a run.
