The Rochester Red Wings come away with their second straight win in a low-scoring affair Sunday afternoon, 3-2. Through three series and 18 games against Worcester this season, the Red Wings hold the advantage with a 10-8 record.

The game remained scoreless until the third when, for the sixth time in six games, the Wings got on the board first as CF* Andrew Stevenson* connected on a three-run shot to right field to give Rochester an early lead. The home run propelled Stevenson to second on the club with 11 in a Red Wings uniform, nine off the leader, and newly promoted Washington National* Joey Meneses* (20).

Worcester LF Abraham Almonte would get the Woo Sox in the hit column to lead off the sixth inning on the double to left field. He came around to score a batter later on a two-run homer by C Ronaldo Hernandez to cut the lead to 3-2. Rochester pitching held Worcester scoreless for the final three frames to cement the one-run victory.

Rochester RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon made a start for the fourth time in August and delivered his best outing as a Red Wing. The former St. Louis Cardinal held Worcester hitless through five innings, allowing just four base runners and collecting seven strikeouts. Five pitchers out of the Wings bullpen covered the final four innings, highlighted by a five-out save by RHP* Jordan Weems*, his 14th season (5th in IL).

After an off-day tomorrow, Rochester will travel to Indianapolis for the first time since August 2019 for a six-game set. The series opener is slated for Tuesday at 7:05 pm, with RHP Patrick Murphy making his second start of the season for the Wings.
