As we get closer and closer to Opening Day, the Washington Nationals manager Davey Martinez will make some interesting roster decisions. One of those decisions is what to do with RHP Joan Adon.

Adon signed with the Nationals in 2016 and started his professional career with the Dominican Summer League Nationals in 2017. On October 3, 2021, Adon was promoted to the active roster to make his MLB debut versus the Boston Red Sox. He pitched into the sixth inning, striking out nine, while giving up two earned runs: a fourth-inning solo homer by Rafael Devers, then a runner bequeathed to reliever Patrick Murphy who came around to score in the sixth. His nine strikeouts were the most by a pitcher making his MLB debut in the 2021 season.

Fast forward to what the Nationals should do with the right-handed pitcher. In an interview with MLB.com, Davey Martinez laid out his dilemma: "I like him, I really do. I know he's part of our process of being young but I think he's come a long way. If I had to make a decision myself, I think he'd start w/us. But I'm going to go back & talk to Riz. We def. need starters."

Even if Adon, doesn't make the opening day roster, he might be quickly elevated to the majors shortly after.
