We are all so familiar with how much of a beast Max Scherzer is as we have watched him over the past seven years. Mets fans, however, got a small taste of what we already know during the Mets Spring Training game today.

In his Spring Training debut, Max Scherzer threw 72 pitches today for the Mets. He went five innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, and struck out five. Not a bad day's work.

Scherzer, 37, signed a three-year, $130 million deal with the Mets this offseason, shattering some records in the process. Can Scherzer maintain this pace throughout the year?
