Last night, the Washington Nationals lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-2. Here are some post-game quotes from Sean Doolittle, Dave Martinez, Josh Bell, and others following the loss.

“He couldn’t — they didn’t swing and miss.. He threw a lot of pitches. Pitch count got up to 80 in 3 13 innings. Some balls he left up were hit hard, and then they fouled off a lot of pitches and they put the ball in play, so I told Fedde, ‘Hey, look, let’s forget about this one and move forward.’ I mean, they had good at-bats against him.”

It’s hard... I talked to him last night for a while, just because of the history that we have together. It was tough. And I told him, I said, ‘Hey, we’ll figure this out. You’re strong, you’ve got the will to get through this, and just know that you are not alone and we’ll get through this together and we’ll see what we come up with. So, just hang in there and rehab and get ready and hopefully, we’ll forget about this in a couple [of] weeks and we’ll move on.

That’s what I was wrestling with last night, to be honest... Because like, what’s a sprain, really? What does it really mean? It means there’s some tearing, there’s some inflammation, there’s some damage. It’s not ideal. But they’re not recommending that as the first course of action. That’s the last [resort] based on the location of the sprain and the severity of the sprain. So we’re going to see what we can do to push it and try to keep all our options open. We’re going all-in on this rehab, see where we come out in a week, 10 days, two weeks, once we start throwing again.

We don’t have a timetable... I know that sounds like I’m talking around it and talking in generalities, but we’ve got to let it tell us what’s going on,” the left-hander said. “So we’re going to throw ourselves into that process right now, starting today. I actually started last night. By the end of that 10 days, we’ll start throwing again, see where we’re at and go from there.

The infielders were halfway there and it was a chopper, you got to go... Anything hard you see it through. I saw the check swing there and I knew he was coming right behind me because he was holding me on virtually at third base. I knew it was going to be some sort of play at home, but I kind of heard his footsteps and all that, too.

The left knee was bothering him... He is going to get an MRI tomorrow. That’s all we know. A little swelling in there, but we will know tomorrow with the MRI.
