Here is your daily Washington Nationals down on the farm report and what’s happening on Thursday, May 5, 2022:

Fredericksburg Nationals  (Single-A)

The Fredericksburg Nationals fell in the quickest game of the season 4-2 to the Lynchburg Hillcats Wednesday at Bank of the James Stadium. Jeremy De La Rosa went deep for the second consecutive game.  De La Rosa’s blast, his fifth season, made it 1-0 FredNats (14-8) in the first. Hillcats starter Rodney Boone allowed the homer but would not allow an earned run the rest of the way. He received a no-decision.

The FredNats will look to win a doubleheader today. The action starts at 4 pm. RHP Jackson Rutledge (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his first start of the year on the mound in Game 1. RHP Rodney Theophile (2-0, 0.86 ERA) is expected to start Game 2.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (High-A)

The Wilmington Blue Rocks (11-12) dropped the second game in their series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods (15-8) 8-6 on Wednesday, May 4.

On a night, the Blue Rock’s defense gave up two unearned runs on two errors and made many more mistakes in the field. Wilmington was playing from behind essentially the whole game. The Hot Rod’s first batter of the night doubled and would eventually score to end the inning 1-0.

Harrisburg Senators (Double-A)

The Senators snapped their mini two-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Bowie Baysox Tuesday night. The Sens scored three times in the first inning when the first four batters reached base on two doubles, a home run, and a double. The game went back and forth until the eighth inning, when Taylor Gushue homered for a second time, providing the game-winning margin.

Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A)

Wednesday’s Rochester Red Wings game vs. the Scranton/WB RailRiders at Frontier Field was postponed due to rain. The two teams will play a single-admission doubleheader on Saturday, May 7, with the first game beginning at 1:05 p.m.
