ROCHESTER, NY - Drew Ellis turned in a perfect night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three doubles to power the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to a 7-5 win over the Rochester Red Wings in front of 9,271 fans. Batting ninth, Ellis ignited the offense and in the sixth inning, ripped a two-out double down the right field line. Moments later, he scored from second on a wild pitch by Cade Cavalli, extending Scranton’s lead to 4-0.

Rochester chipped into the deficit thanks to Andrew Pinckney’s three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, but Scranton stretched their advantage in the late innings. Mason Thompson came on in relief while Joan Adon pitched the eighth, highlighted by Jeimer Candelario’s towering home run to right, pushing the lead to 7-3.

The Red Wings mounted a final rally in the ninth, capped by Rob Hassell III’s second hit of the night, a two-run single, but ultimately fell short.

RHP Cade Cavalli endured his fifth consecutive loss and now stands at 3-6 with a 5.14 ERA, racking up 72 strikeouts across 70 innings and a 1.44 WHIP in 14 starts.

With his home run, Pinckney is now tied for the team lead with 13, alongside Brady House and Nick Schnell. Nick Schnell and YoYo Morales each extended their on-base streaks to 18 games, matching Daylen Lile for the longest such stretch this year. Hassell and Schnell both recorded two hits in the game.

Tonight’s contest will showcase former MLB pitchers, with Carlos Carrasco starting for Scranton and Shinnosuke Ogasawara aiming for his second straight win for Rochester. The Red Wings will also mark “Christmas in July,” with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
