Game 3 Storylines and Notes

The Sens and Fightin Phils play Game 3 of 6 on City Island tonight. With yesterday’s win the Senators have deadlocked the series at 1 game a piece. The Senators lead the season series 5 games to 3.

The Senators give the ball to Isaac Lyon. Lyon, who has pitched tremendously well in his AA stint, is coming off an outing in which he battled tough against New Hampshire. Lyon pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3. He took the loss in the outing. He looks to get back on track in tonight’s outing against a good Reading lineup.

Reading counters will RHP Luke Russo. Russo has lost 2 of his last 3 starts but has been very successful for the Fightins. He last pitched against Altoona in last week’s series going 5 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5.

LAST GAME RECAP

The Sens had all facets of their game rolling yesterday afternoon. With the exception of a tough defensive 6th inning that saw the Fightin Phils score two runs and the Sens defense commit two errors, on the same play. it was a very clean game for the home team. The Sens offense tallied 12 runs on 15 hits. Every position player in the lineup recorded a hit with the exception of 3B Devin Ortiz. TJ White, Ethan Perry and Johnathan Thomas all homered in the game. Thomas, Petry, Caleb Farmer, Branden Boissiere and Devin Fitz-Gerald all had 2 hits. Kervin Pichardo had 3.

Riley Maddox pitched an outstanding ball game going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, walking 2 and striking out 6. Seth Shuman and Holden Powell threw 4 innings combined and other than the 6th inning pitched extremely well. Maddox earned the win, his second for the Sens and his now 2-0 in AA.

The Sens went into defeat the Fightin Phils 12-2 and even the series at 1 a piece.
