Game 4 Storylines and Notes

The Harrisburg Senators and Reading Fightin Phils will meet for Game 4 tonight at FNB Field. The Senators are winners of straight and lead the series 2 games to 1. The Senators have also doubled up with the Fightin Phils and now lead the season series 6 games to 3. The Senators are slowly chipping away at their deficit in the Eastern League’s Southwest Division Standings. Harrisburg enters play this evening 3 games back of first place Erie. The Sens have come within a ½ game of 2nd place Chesapeake and can surpass them with a win and Baysox loss this evening. Reading enters play this evening 1 game behind Portland for first place in the Northeast Divison Standings.

The Sens hand the ball to Washington Nationals pitcher Jake Irvin who makes his second rehab appearance with the Senators. Irvin continues to work his way back to the big league club from a shoulder injury. Irvin pitched extremely well in his first rehab start in Harrisburg 5 days ago. He pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 5. His opponents are hitting .067 off of him in his 2 rehab appearances. I would look for Irivin to throw somewhere in the neighborhood of 55-70 pitches.

The Fightin Phils will counter with Adam Seminaris. Seminaris has been fantastic of late. He has won 5 of his last 6 starts. He’s only gone less than 5 innings in 1 of those 6 starts. He did give up 8 hits to Altoona in his last appearance last week but only surrendered 2 runs and was still able to secure the win. Seminaris will be a tough challenge for the Sens lineup, whose been hot the last two games.

There’s nothing better than weekend baseball on City Island. Friday night baseball and fireworks. There’s even more buzz around the ballpark when the team is playing good baseball, the opponent is local to the area and there’s a Major League pitcher making a rehab appearance on the mound. Here’s to a good Friday night of baseball and a good weekend overall. The match ups this weekend are loaded with talent. Lineups are out and below. First pitch is coming up at 7 o’clock.

LAST GAME RECAP

The Sens were firing on all cylinders for the second night in a row. The Sens got a fantastically pitched ball game from starter Issac Lyon, as well as Chance Huff and Connor Van Scoyoc coming out of the bullpen. Lyon went 7 innings, allowing 4 hit, 1 walk and striking out 5. Lyon won his 3 game in his last 4 tries. He’s solidifying himself as a major piece of the rotation.

The offense tallied 11 hits last night to go along with Wednesday afternoon’s 15 hits. 26 hits in the last two games is exactly what the doctor ordered for this ball club. Now they need to continue to do it consistently. 10-15 hits isn’t going to happen every single ball game but they’re seeking consistency. There were many offensive stars. For the second night in a row only one player, this time Ethan Petry, didn't register a hit. Cortland Lawson had 3 hits with a run scored and 2 RBIs. Caleb Farmer was the star of the show with 2 hits, both home runs, with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Six other Senators hitters registered 1 hit on the evening. The Sens would go onto ease past Reading 10-0, the second straight game defeating the Fightin Phils by 10 runs.
