(Harrisburg, PA)- The Senators and Fly Squirrels play Game four tonight at FNB Field on City Island. The Sens currently own a two games to one series lead on the Squirrels after last night’s 8-4 victory. Washington Nationals rehabbing RHP Trevor Williams will make a start for the Senators tonight as he continues his road back from an elbow injury. Trevor last pitched for the Sens when he made two rehab appearances in 2024. Tonight will be Williams second game back this season. He pitched in a game last week for A- Fredericksburg going 2/3 of an inning allowing 4R (2ER), 4H, 1K. It is expected, but not guaranteed, that after Trevor’s night is over initial starter Riley Maddox will come on in relief.

The Flying Squirrels will hand the ball to Greg Farone, who will make his 16th appearance of the season for Richmond. Farone pitched in a game during the team’s last series in early June. He went 5IP, allowing 2R, 4H, 1HR, 3BB and 4Ks. Farone has lost three of his last five starts and struggled in the month of June. He threw 21 innings allowed 17R, 24H, 5HR, 15BB and 16Ks. He struggled with the long ball and control in his five starts in June.

Harrisburg Senators - Richmond Flying Squirrels Game 3 Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

The Harrisburg Senators 2026 offense has been at a premium on several occasions this year. Young players, promotions, slumps, this Senators team has gone through it like all baseball teams do often throughout a season. This was not the case last evening, or the last two for that matter. The Sens bats got to work right out the gate in the first inning. Devin Fitz-Gerald walked, do it all Cayden Wallace doubled. Cortland Lawson, who had a large hand in Wednesday night’s victory took an 0-1 pitch to the alley in left center scoring two. The Sens offense would go quietly for the next few innings before getting some insurance runs in the bottom half of the 5th. Sam Petersen singled and stole 2nd and Fitz-Gerald singled on a line drive to left with Petersen halting at third. Flying Squirrels starter Cesar Perdomo attempted to pick off Fitz-Gerald and threw wide of his first baseman with the ball ricocheting off of the wall on the first base side. Petersen scored on the play to put the Sens up 3-1. Lomavita would bring in Fitz-Gerald on an RBI single a few batters later. In the sixth inning, Kervin Pichardo doubled and TJ White would follow with his first AA bomb of the season sneaking inside the left field foul pole to put the Sens up 6-1. The Sens would continue to strike while the iron was hot in the seventh. Two singles by Wallace and Lomavita would set the stage for Ethan Petry to barrel up a 3-2 pitch on a line drive down the left field line scoring the pair and extending the lead. Despite a 3 run missile by Jean Carlos Sio over everything in right field in the 8th inning the lead would be more than enough for the Sens bullpen to hold onto.

Senators starter Issac Lyon pitched extremely well and earned his second victory of his AA tenure. Lyon keeps getting better each outing and has won two of his last three starts. He pitched out of a few jams but kept Richmond’s offense off balance for most of the evening making it through seven innings. He finished with a line of 1R, 7H, 4Ks on 86 pitches. Lyon is going to be intriguing to watch as we continue to move forward into the season. Despite the aforementioned Sio home run, reliever Thomas Schultz got a monstrous out to end the 8th inning with runners on the corners in a four run game. Sandy Gaston came on in the 9th throwing untouchable smoke past Richmond’s hitters. Gaston would hit 98 striking out two and slam the door on the 8-4 victory in front of 1,397 fans.

On Deck…

Fourth of July, America and Baseball. They all go hand in hand. They just flow. Throw in a hot dog and some fireworks and you have a great American evening watching America’s Past time. It’s always extra special when your team plays at home on Independence Day. The Senators and Flying Squirrels will play Game five of their six game set tomorrow night at 7 PM. A couple different fireworks displays will light the Harrisburg night in celebration of America’s 250th Birthday immediately following what will hopefully be a Senators victory! Richmond will hand the ball to Charlie McDaniel making his sixth appearance for the Flying Squirrels since his promotion from A+ Eugene early last month. McDaniel is 2-0 with a 5.25 ERA. The Senators have not yet named a starter for tomorrow evening’s ball game but it is expected that the Sens will have an opener start out of the bullpen.
