Game Four Storylines and Notes

(Harrisburg, PA) - There’s nothing quite like baseball on July 4th. It just feels different. America’s favorite past time being played on America’s Birthday. Baseball, Hot Dogs, Fireworks and America. What could be better? It’s always extra special when your team is home for the holiday. The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Senators meet back at FNB Field for Game five of six on tonight. The series is deadlocked at two games a piece.

The Senators hand the ball to opener LHP Jared Simpson to start tonight’s ball game. Jared came out of the bullpen in Wednesday night’s game against Richmond and threw a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and walking one. Jared had a fantastic June throwing 8 1/3 innings, allowing 2R, 6H, 5BB and 5Ks. Both runs allowed and three of the six hits he allowed all month came in a game against Richmond earlier in June.

The Flying Squirrels counter with a lefty of their own in Charlie McDaniel. He will be making only his sixth appearance for the Flying Squirrels after his promotion from A+ Eugene. Charlie does sport a 2-0 record but has been hit pretty good at times in his 24 innings of AA work. He’s allowed 15R, 24H, 7BB and 20Ks in his five outings. His last start against Akron last week he only lasted 3 innings while giving up 5R, 6H, 2BB and striking out three.

A baseball game on City Island on one of the greatest baseball days of the season. It’s a celebration and will be capped with Fireworks lighting up the Harrisburg sky. The Senators and the Flying Squirrels on America’s Birthday. First Pitch coming up at 7 o’clock.

Senators - Flying Squirrels Game Three Recap
LAST GAME RECAP

A few games so far in this series vs. the Flying Squirrels all facets of theHarrisburg Senators game have clicked at the same time. Game four wasn’t one of those night’s. The offense only delivered five hits, four singles and a double, go 0-5 with runners in scoring position and leave seven runners on base. Those five hits would not be nearly enough for a Senators bullpen who had a tough evening, albeit against a tough lineup. Washington Nationals RHP Trevor Williams made his second rehab start, first with Harrisburg, throwing 2 1/3 innings, allowing 1H and striking out two. It was a much more effective outing than his first one last week in A- Fredericksburg. Marquis Grissom Jr and the games original starter, Riley Maddox, would get knocked around pretty good over the next 5 2/3 innings. Together the pair allowed 7R, 11H, 1BB and struck out four.

Richmond’s Greg Farone and their powerful bats at the top of this star studded line up was the difference in this one. Bo Davidson, Parks Harber and Charlie Szykowny went a combined 7-13 with five of the teams seven RBIs. Diego Velasquez also had a big night going 2-3, 3 RBIs and three runs scored. Farone (1-7) was every bit last night of what his record doesn’t show. It was an outstanding performance on the mound. Farone went 6 allowing all five Senators hits and struck out five. Shane Rademacher came in for 3 innings of relief and was outstanding. Rademacher didn’t allow a hit, walked one and struck out two shutting the door on a 7-0 victory for the Flying Squirrels.
