Syracuse, NY - The Rochester Red Wings closed out their week-long series against the Syracuse Mets with a 3-2 win. The Red Wings improved to 38-35 (19-20 on the road) and are now .500 during June, with a record of 10-10 as they head into the last week in June.

RHP Brad Lord, who made his first Triple-A pitching debut this afternoon, got the first win of his triple-A career by pitching 5.0 innings, giving up only two runs on nine hits. Lord threw 71 pitches, with 52 of them being strikes, and faced 22 batters. He now is 1-0 with a 3.60 Triple-A ERA. Overall, this season in the Nationals minor league system, Lord is now 9-1 with a 1.47 ERA over 14 game starts. The projected next start for Lord could come this week.

Lord got his first Triple-A strikeout in the bottom of the first against Syracuse’s Brett Baty on a 93.3 mph four-seam fastball.

The Red Wings got a quick start in today’s game by getting three runs in the top of the first. Dylan Crews kicked off the game with a double, where he scored after 2B. Darren Baker would move him over to third, and then a sacrifice fly from Travis Blankenhorn. 1B Juan Yepez then hit a two-run home run, his ninth of the season, scoring himself and James Wood. That would be all the Red Wings scoring that was needed.

Juan Yepez finished the day 2 - 4 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. Dylan Crews finished his day going 2-4, scoring one run, and James Wood went 1-2. However, he got pitched run for in the top of the 8th by Jack Dunn. Getting his 11th save of the season was Rico Garcia.

Next, the Rochester Red Wings will have Monday off. Still, on Tuesday, they will kick off their weekly series against the Indianapolis Indians (the triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) in Rochester. The Red Wings have yet to announce the starting rotation for the series.
