Rochester Red Wings defeat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10-6

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Red Wings erupted for seven runs, powered by a pair of home runs from Travis Blankenhorn, to defeat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 10-6 on Friday, July 26. Rochester now holds a record of 15-10 in the year's second half, with a 53-45 2024 season record.

Blankenhorn was the catalyst for the Red Wings' offensive explosion, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored. His two long balls, including a 433-foot blast, added to his dominant performance. Joey Meneses also contributed significantly with a three-run home run.

Blankenhorn finished the night 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk. His first blast traveled 433 feet with an exit velocity of 110.1 mph, propelling him to sole possession of second place in the International League home run category. The towering drive was also the third hardest-hit and sixth-longest home run by a Red Wing this season.

This marks Blankenhorn’s second multi-home run game of the year, with the first coming on April 21. The standout outfielder now leads the International League and the entire Washington Nationals organization in extra-base hits with 44.

With his impressive performance, Blankenhorn has driven in 67 runs, just one shy of the International League lead. Additionally, he has extended his extra-base hit streak to six consecutive games, the longest active streak in the league.

Rochester Red Wings second baseman Darren Baker stole his 31st base of the season tonight, extending his lead atop the International League stolen base leaderboard. Baker finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Since his Triple-A debut on March 31, 2023, Baker has accumulated an impressive 50 stolen bases for the Red Wings.

This season's total is already two more than any Red Wing in 2023 and the most since Andrew Stevenson's 39 in 2022. Should Baker maintain his current pace, he would become the first Rochester baserunner to steal at least 40 bases since 1987. Baker also leads all Nationals Minor Leaguers with 95 hits on the season.

3B Brady House finished the night 2-4 with 1 RBI, and RF Dylan Crews also finished the night 1-5 with two strikeouts.

RHP Thaddeus Ward pitched five solid innings on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out three. Nick Nelson earned the win in relief, solidifying the Red Wings' victory.
