ROCHESTER, NY- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre won four of six games against the Rochester Red Wings this week, closing the series with an 8-7 victory in the finale this afternoon. The games featured multiple home runs, unlike Thursday’s matchup, where solo home runs dominated.
Jesus Rodriguez powered the RailRiders with two three-run homers off Chase Solesky in the third and fourth innings, giving Scranton a 6-1 lead. Seth Shuman, making his third relief appearance in the fifth, pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
In the bottom of the fifth, Rochester rallied as YoYo Morales singled to bring in Nasim Nunez, making it 6-2. Nick Schnell reached base, and with runners on first and second, Andres Chaparro hit a massive 469-foot homer to bring the Wings within 6-5.
Matt LeCroy added drama by using newly acquired reliever Clayton Beeter, who faced his former team in his debut. Beeter retired the side by striking out Ramon Flores after walking T.J. Rumfield and a failed steal attempt.
Nick Schnell hits a two-run home run on a fly ball to right center field, scoring Yohandy Morales.
