Senators-Baysox Series Storylines and Notes

We have made it to the season’s second half and the Senators are playing their last division opponent that they have yet to play. Tuesday night’s game between the Senators and Baysox will be the first meeting of the season for the Southwest Division mates. Both teams are eagerly looking forward to a fresh start after finishing 4th and 6th in the division standings during the first half. The Senators finished the first 69 games of the season one game under .500 at 34-35 after losing three straight and dropping 4 of 6 to the Erie SeaWolves. The Senators have also lost 7 of their last 10 games. Meanwhile, Chesapeake enters the new season feeling pretty good about themselves. The Baysox won 3 straight against division leading Richmond and took 4 of 6 from the Flying Squirrels last week. The Baysox ended the first half winning 5 out of their last 10 games. The Sens and Baysox will meet two more times this season when the Sens travel to Prince George’s Stadium in early August and the Baysox make the return trip to FNB Field in the latter part of August. Marcus Brown Traded
Per Chase Ford of MiLB Central, The Washington Nationals have reportedly traded Harrisburg Senators INF Marcus Brown to the Houston Astros. There has been no announced return for Brown and as of this morning neither team has announced the trade officiallly. Brown did acknowledge the trade on his Instagram account. Browns best game in a Senators uniform came on May 24th against Akron. He was 2-3 with 3RBIs in a 5-1 victory. Brown hit .237, 3 doubles and 1 HR and 10Ks in 25 games and 59 at bats with the Senators. We wish Marcus all the best and continued success in the Astros organization!
Former Senators C Tres Barrera has retired
Former Harrisburg Senators and current Rochester Red Wings C Tres Barrera has announced his retirement from baseball per his social media accounts. The club has confirmed his retirement. Tres was a .241 career hitter in 1861 minor league at bats. He hit .228 in 145 at bats in the bigs. Barrera was drafted out of the University of Texas by the Washington Nationals in the 6th Rd (184th pick) of the 2016 MLB Draft. Barrera won a World Series with the Washington Nationals in 2019. He elected for Free Agency after the 2022 season. He played in a few other organizations before the Nationals resigned him in January of this year. He appeared in 16 games with AAA Rochester this season. He was transferred to the Developmental List on June 16th and announced his retirement on June 22nd. In Tres’s one year with the Senators in 2019 he played in 101 games, had 357 at bats and hit .249. Congratulation to Tres on his retirement and wish him all the best in his post baseball endeavors!
