Monday, May 23: RHP Joan Adon (1-7, 6.38 ERA) vs LHP Tyler Anderson (4-0, 4.04 ERA) | First Pitch: 7:05 PM

Joan Adon’s struggles continue, making the returns of Stephen Strasburg and Joe Ross even more necessary. These struggles will be further amplified by the dangerous Dodgers’ lineup.

Lefty Tyler Anderson put up his first healthy and good season since he debuted back in 2016. As always, he has been even better since putting on a Dodgers uniform. His extra hot start is happening for a couple reasons. First, tinkering with his changeup has added six inches of drop, turning it from a well below-average pitch into a very good one. Second, he has cut down on his walk rate, now posting on of the lowest in the league. Expect a league-average starter out of Anderson during his start.

Tuesday, May 24: RHP Josiah Gray (4-3, 4.36 ERA) vs RHP Walker Buehler (5-1, 2.89 ERA) | First Pitch: 7:05 PM

Josiah Gray’s seesaw of good and bad start streak continues, after putting up a quality start against the Marlins. He continues to get an absurd number of whiffs with his slider, but with a team with many great left-handed batters, Gray may struggle. This will be a big test for Gray, but he should be good to handle it.

Walker Buehler has loudly become one of the most dominant starters in baseball, replacing Kershaw as the ace of this Dodgers team. He is striking out fewer batters than usual, but his ability to avoid hard hit balls, especially barreled balls, keeps him in the conversation of top MLB pitchers.

Wednesday, May 25: RHP Erik Fedde (2-3, 4.08 ERA) vs LHP Julio Urías (3-3, 2.63 ERA) | First Pitch: 4:05 PM

By nearly every ERA estimator and stat imaginable, Erik Fedde should not be having the season he is having outside of that lone start back on April 20th against the Diamondbacks. He has a 2.73 ERA since then and continues to impress. With some good luck it continues against the Dodgers.

If Walker Buehler has loudly become one of the most dominant starters in baseball, Julio Urías has done it quietly.  Since the start of 2021, Urías has a 2.90 ERA in 226.2 innings. With that he has struck out 226 batters and walked 46.

Other Notes:
Despite having the fourth best batting average in baseball, the Nationals are 17th in runs scored.

In case you have missed it, all signs point to Lane Thomas supplanting Victor Robles as the everyday outfielder.

Keibert Ruiz is tied for first in fWAR among qualified catchers.

Nelson Cruz has sprained his ankle according to Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post.

To the surprise of no one, the Dodgers lineup leads the league in runs, while their rotation has the lowest ERA in the league. Their bullpen ranks fourth in ERA. Just a dominant team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently up half a game in the NL West with a 27-13 record.
