📌 DRIVING THE DAY HERE AT THE NATS REPORT.

📌 Yesterday, the Washington Nationals selected right-handed pitcher Evan Reifert from the Tampa Bay Rays during the Rule 5 Draft. 1 Reifert, aged 25, showcased his talent in Double-A with a 1.96 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 41.1 innings. Reifert is known for his high strikeout rate and formidable 70-grade slider. His selection has also caught the attention of other teams like the Yankees.

Addittionally, the Nationals also selected Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Hyun-il Choi, 24 years old in Round 1 of the Rule 5's Triple-AAA round. Choi can be assigned to any level of the Nats system. 73.2 innings, 14 starts for AAA-Oklahoma City last season, 4.18 ERA. Formerly (2021) Dodgers Minor League Pitcher of the Year.

📌 Talking about the Yankees, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, it seems that the Washington Nationals might be interested in Gleyber Torres as a third base option. "It also is conceivable that Washington could play Torres at second and see what the trade market is for Garcia, a lefty swinger who hit 18 homers and had a 112 OPS-plus last season." Last year, Torres had a batting average of .257 with 15 homeruns, 63 RBI, a slugging percentage of .378, and an OPS of .709. Torres does fit into what Dave Martinez said during this year's MLB Winter meetings where he wants to have a right-handed bat to insert in the lineup. What do you think about having Gleyber Torres with the Nationals?

📌This day in History. Back in 2000, Alex Rodriguez signs a record-breaking 10-year, $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers, the largest in professional sports history.
