 Washington Nationals 2025 Season

THE LEAD

The Nationals did not use the off day to make any roster moves, alas, so we will have to wait a little longer at least to see any of Brady House, Robert Hassell III, or Daylen Lile make their major league debuts. The fact that there were no moves also tells us that Jacob Young likely does not need an IL stint after crashing into the wall at Camden Yards on Saturday, but let’s see if he is in the lineup tonight or if he is held out for Alex Call again.

Game Recap

The Nationals were off yesterday, but will start a three-game series with the Atlanta Barves this evening at 6:45 PM, with Mitchell Parker pitching for the Nationals and very likely Spencer Strider for Atlanta. Ruh roh!

 STORY TYPE

Another Bat Looming

Oblique injuries can linger and take a long time to heal, and thus Andrés Chaparro only recently started a rehab stint in West Palm Beach. He has gone 4-for-11 thus far, and yesterday hit a home run. Once he moves to an affiliate, he will have twenty days before the Nationals will either need to call him up (perhaps spelling the end for Josh Bell) or option him to Rochester (in which case the casualty would likely be Juan Yepez. Chaparro might not be any great shakes with the glove, but he can hit, especially left-handed pitching, and will likely get some run in the majors before June is very old.
